2019 Workshop: A Walk in the Woods

Commune with nature. Learn how a walk in the woods can inform your designs. This is going to be GOOD!

Held on the grounds of a private woodland cabin in Cleveland, Georgia - just a little over and hours drive from Atlanta. Guest will be transported from their accommodations in Dahlonega, GA to the property each day for what will be a relaxing and creative escape for floral designers and enthusiasts.

Enjoy 3 Summer of days total immersion in nature and floral design… complete with nature walks, artist led sketching, a visit to a local flower farm, meditations, lunches and a styled finale dinner and more!

Tentative Itinerary:

Sunday June 23rd

  • 5:30 pm: Casual meet & greet at the cabin: private transportation to pick you up from your hotel or accommodations in Dahlonega; meet your hosts and presenters while enjoying local wines and delicious catered bites; transportation to return you to your hotel

Monday June 24th - Workshop Day 1:

  • 8:30-8:45 am attendee pick up via coach

  • begin the day with an introduction in the tent and then jump right in to a artist led woodland sketch session - led by our own Gene Campbell - see the patterns of the woods and nature

  • woodland meditation -take the woods around you into heart and mind

  • mini design session - “mud pie” style terrarium - unleash your sense of play

  • lovely catered lunch under the trees

  • forage the woods for our upcoming design session

  • design session: Brian Watson will lead us through creating a beautiful natural layered arrangement inspired by the ways of nature and the woods

  • design your arrangements; attendees will also have their arrangements captured in a styled woodland setting by our photographer

  • return to your accommodations via coach - evening on your own

Tuesday June 25th - Workshop Day 2

  • 8:00-8:15 am: attendee pick up via coach at hotel(s)

  • arrive at Whimsy Flower Farm, intro to flower farm

  • farm forage and pick

  • design session led by Brian Watson

  • picnic lunch

  • design session continues with attendees designing; arrangements to be photographed

  • field trip to waterfall for afternoon snack and toast. Cheers!

  • return to hotels via coach - evening to connect and catch up

Wednesday June 26 - Workshop Day 3:

  • 8:30-8:45 am: attendee pick up at hotels

  • arrival at cabin and morning welcome

  • design session - Brian Watson will lead attendees in making woodland/nature inspired bouquets

  • design session continued by attendees making their own bouquets ; once complete they will be photographed with a model in a woodland setting

  • lunch under the trees

  • photography continues; begin designing and installing fro our finale dinner under the trees; we will design centerpieces and a MAGICAL environment for for finale dinner later that evening

  • guests return to hotels via coach to freshen up

  • guests return to cabin to enjoy a MAGICAL dinner under the trees

  • 9: 30 pm: guests return to hotel via coach

POLICIES & NOTES

This workshop is curated on every level (the setting, flowers, materials food, drink, field trips, transportation, etc) and requires a great deal of of behind the scenes planning and expense. Therefore all registration must be paid in full to secure a spot. Additionally there are no refunds and no credits. However if you are unable to attend you may sell your spot.

  • Space is limited as to preserve a quality experience for all attendees. All materials are provided. Snacks & lunches provided all three days as well as the finale dinner.

  • Lodging and destination transportation not included….preferred commendations in Dahlonega, GA include: The Dahlonega Square Hotel, 27 on Park, and the Smith House

  • we will be outdoors for most of the workshop. plan to wear comfortable clothing and closed toed shoes. boots may be preferable for dewy morning forages.
